Bulleit bourbon is unique in the amount of rye they have in the mash bill. This produces a spicy bourbon jumping with flavor. The mash bill is reportedly 68% corn, 28% rye, and 4% malted barley. On the nose, we’re entranced with the ever pleasing flavors of vanilla, caramel, and even a hint of orange peel or a rye spice. On the palate, pleasant oak tannins join in with the rye spice and sweet corn to add a layer of complexity to this bourbon. Just a touch of cherry and anise to really round things out. The finish is solid, and allows time for the vanilla notes to dance with the rye spice and oak tannins. Quite pleasant, and classic in nature.
